Alumni Stories - Nick Ruocco

Since graduating from Sheffield in 2004 I have been fortunate enough to travel the world with some of the biggest artists as part of their touring crew. Before I attended Sheffield, I had a passion for video and operated a small business doing whatever kind of video projects I could find. I shot music videos, produced corporate training DVDs and even recorded many Maryland area dance & cheerleading completions and recitals. I wanted to expand my knowledge in video, and attending Sheffield was the perfect way. I was able to build off of what experience I had and learn the fundamentals of video from some very talented teachers at Sheffield. Since graduating, I had the opportunity to go on tour as a technician with my brother’s band who was the opening act for KISS in Europe. During the tour, one of the video crew members left the tour and they were in need of help. I offered my help for the show. After a successful show, I was asked to finish the tour as part of the video crew. I have since toured/worked with many different acts such as Tina Turner, Def Leppard, the Eagles, Lady Gaga & Mariah Carey. This year I toured with New Kids On The Block as video crew chief and I am currently scheduled to continue work on Elton John's Las Vegas show and headed to Japan with KISS in October. Some of my typical responsibilities include the setup and operation of large scale LED walls, projection, broadcast cameras, media servers, and camera engineering systems. Many thanks to everyone at Sheffield!
